In November, 2007, Common Fire began the process of starting a housing co-op and model green building in the City of Kingston, NY. We identified an ideal house and made an offer on it that was accepted. However, the survey revealed a significant issue regarding the property boundaries that prevented us from being able to close on the purchase. In September, 2008, we had to cancel the contract.

Common Fire is a volunteer-run organization and that initial effort consumed a tremendous amount of time as well as money. So while it's still possible we will some day launch a housing co-op in Kingston, we don't have any plans to do so in the forseeable future.
